Governor of Illinois: employers Use credit score

National consumer reporting agencies all State that they do not provide credit scores for employment purposes.

The new law, however, allows credit history using a "well established bona fide occupational requirement".

The Chicago Tribune reported, "[the Jack] Franks said a workbook for TransUnion ' duped him to replace references to ' credit history ' with ' credit scores; ' that cannot be used to hire."

The staff of the consumer reporting agency in Oregon TransUnion testified, "there is no such thing as a credit score to employment."TransUnion is based in Chicago.
